Most helpful customer reviews 9 of 18 people found the following review helpful. 9/7/11: In my defense, I was trying to be politely informative to the public at large by stating that this is the most current packaging for the Easy Bake mixes, thus, Easy Bake products with the cursive script are the most current and therefore the freshest. (I could not review the yellow cake mix that is packaged alone here on Amazon because the packaging of that particular one is older with different script, could be an entirely different “recipe”/contain different ingredients, and was not the one that I purchased.) These products with the current, oh-so-trendy cursive script were the ones that I saw in Toys-R-Us in November 2010. I also saw at the same store the Easy Bake mixes with the former, simple “kiddish” script (ie.the old version) and swiftly concluded that those products were less than fresh. So basically, I wish to clarify that I tried to make the wisest purchasing decision, and we did purchase and try the yellow cake mix with the most current packaging, and yes, it was nuthin’ to write home about. Now, if half of this set was just O.K. and not spectacular, would you want to take a pricey roll of the dice and then find out that the chocolate half was indeed terrible? And with the odds against you? Let me tell ya, these mixes are not exactly stellar. I am taking way one overall star so that I do not cause general confusion in the area of whether or not I endorse these mixes. I do not, and maybe the readers who voted my review as unhelpful are Easy Bake mixes zealots, or they thought I was lame for only reviewing one half of a product. Jeez, I thought I was helping. Footnotes: I do not know if the packaging has changed since November 2010. Five stars for fun due to general baking excitement; five for durability until the end result of the prepared mix is masticated. |
